Jazz lovers adore this seaside festival, celebrating music across 3 days with hundreds of musicians and performers and in 2021 it’s the big, (belated) 4-0.  Yes, the Merimbula Jazz Festival is turning 40 !!

The festival was born in 1980, during an impromptu Sunday afternoon gig at Merimbula’s Fishpen, the next year it began in earnest and now includes all styles of jazz from traditional, ragtime, big bands, swing, mainstream, modern and funk.

Features of the weekend are the Jazz Street Parade and Concert, Saturday night Jazz Quest and the late night jam session which has the town rocking until well into the wee hours.

Eat Merimbula

The Eat Merimbula Festival is the premium food festival of the Sapphire Coast NSW. Each year the region comes together to celebrate the local chefs, cooks and produce of the region.

The star is the outstanding quality of the local produce of the region, in particular the delights of the sea, award-winning oysters and seafood. The rich grazing land of Bega, famous for its dairy, also ensures the quality of the small producers across the region.

The festival is headlined by Eat Merimbula where the industry comes together in a bustling market style setting. The event is free to enter.

Sapphire Coast Week of Golf

Now entering it’s 40th year, the annual Sapphire Coast Week of Golf is the high point of the golfing calendar for the Pambula Merimbula Golf Club and for the Far South Coast region at large.

Described by the influential Inside Golf magazine as ‘the finest tournament of its type in Australia’, the competition annually attracts around 700-800 entrants from every state and territory as well as numerous overseas visitors from such places as the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore and New Zealand.

Highly regarded for its friendly atmosphere and professional organisation the tournament has encouraged many return visits from golfers, some having participated for more than 30 years.

The Week of Golf comprises nine days of women’s, men’s and mixed competitions. The week concludes with the Pambula Merimbula Men’s Open Championship on the final Saturday and Sunday.
